around, not with that anyway. The category techniques, mastery of was a topic that was sore or confusing, being as it was a topic that seemed to me spuriously or speciously related to the category craft, difference between art and and craft, used as hedge against the consideration of other things. Like the ideas contained in the category beauty, what is it, the category craft set off al sorts of alarm bel s. Was it a verb, was it a noun, what was it really. Did I have a craft, did my use of photography count or matter. Liking photographing things as I did, being interested as I was in the difference between the world and the photographed worldâeven as it raised the possibility of the photographed world being a joke-seeming worldâI was not however bonkers for lenses and the history of film formats and the chemical compositions of various papers as were so many artist-photographers I knew, thus not being bonkers about the craft of photography but only about its status as a tool. the spatiotemporal unknown during the half-hour of gearing up for my job rather than doing my job, plugging it in in a discreet manner, I had hoped that no one at my job would notice my furtive covert actions, even as they were as discreet as I could possibly manage, I had hoped everyone was too absorbed in their own activities of the half-hour of gearing up for the tasks and difficulties of the day to notice me cramped and tangled in the space below the spatiotemporal unknown among wires leading everywhere.
I considered however that possibly my activities set against all other activities taking place during the half-hour were not in fact all that strange, possibly cramped and tangled moments were part of the difficulties of the day for everyone else. Did the space below the spatiotemporal unknown resemble in any way my cognitive space was something I did not have time to consider, being as it was time to buckle down and move items into the âcompletedâ column, not wanting, as I did not, to repeat the shoddy work of the morning before or on mornings not unlike it. My plan was for the video camera to film the scene seen from the window near the spatiotemporal unknown for all the hours I was at my job moving items into the âcompletedâ column, thus creating a long span of the craneâs subversive balletic activity between long stretches of nothing or nothing but the triple or quadruple grid of windows, humans, buildings, blocks.
